Tuition and Fees Overview
As the first accredited medical school in Florida, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine receives a significant amount of financial support from the state; therefore tuition is lower for Florida residents. Among private medical schools, the University of Miami has one of the lowest rates for state residents in the country.

Explanation of Mandatory Fees
The Student Health Fee covers the following services:
Student Health Office
* Access to the student health clinic for basic medical services
* Free annual flu vaccines
* Routine immunizations
* Annual TB skin testing
* Annual OSHA training
* Maintenance of student health records
* Verification of immunizations
* Discounted rates for prescription medicines
* Work-related injuries (i.e. needle sticks)
Student Behavioral Health Service
Confidential psychiatric and psychological counseling (up to five free visits)
Psychometric Testing
Formal educational testing for students with suspected reading or learning difficulties
Wellness Center
This fee provides students access to the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital Wellness Center and the Wellness Center located on the Coral Gables main campus. Students who are assigned to the FAU campus are not required to pay this fee.
University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital Wellness Center
Opened in the Fall of 2006, the Wellness Center is a state-of-the-art facility offering a variety of fitness activities and programs, including cardio-vascular and strength training, stress reduction, smoking cessation and weight management. Gables Wellness Center
Medical students may also use the Wellness Center located on the Gables campus for no additional charge. For more information about the Wellness Center go to the Gables Wellness Center webpage.
Disability Insurance
The UMMSM purchases disability insurance for all active medical students. Should a student become disabled during their medical education, they may be eligible to receive compensation. Please contact the Office of Student Affairs for more information.
Student Council Activities
All monies derived from this fee are turned over to the student government to help support student organizations and annual events such as the Medical Student Convention and the Fall Ball.
