Introduction
During the Phase of self assessment, your goal should be to achieve a better understanding of yourself, and to ask "What do I want to do in my medical career?".
With the online AAMC Careers in Medicine resources and self-evaluation tools, you'll ask yourself "Who am I?" "What do I like to do?" "What's important in my work and life?".
The OPDCG offers a yearly workshop in the Fall Semester to introduce Careers in Medicine and the process of Self Assessment.
Other Year One activities include:
·Introduction to Advanced Clinical Experience (ACE) Program.
·Interest Group Participation.
·Workshop on Summer-Off Activities.

UMMSM Career Advising Program
Our UMMSM Career Advising Program strives to provide our medical students with resources, links, and specific career advising information.
We incorporate the AAMC Careers in Medicine program and website tool, which also provides general career advising information for all medical students.
The "four-phase"approach corresponds to the decision-making stages we suggest for all of our students.
